The Imago Foundations – Getting Started With Couples Therapy training is a practical two-day introduction for therapists who want to confidently expand into couples work but aren’t sure where to begin. Designed for clinicians already skilled with individuals, this course teaches the core theory and techniques of Imago Relationship Therapy, a structured and relational approach used successfully around the world. You’ll learn how to use the Imago Dialogue process with couples, practise it in small groups with supportive feedback, and see real therapy sessions so you know what effective couples work looks like in action. By the end of the course you’ll have practical tools you can use right away, a clear framework for sessions, and the confidence to say “yes” when couples ask if you can help them.
This training also embraces an intersectional perspective on couples work, helping you understand how culture, identity, neurodiversity, power dynamics, and lived experience shape relationship patterns and communication. It’s structured to be accessible and engaging, with options to attend online or in person, and supportive learning throughout. Completing these two days gives you a strong foundation in Imago therapy and a clear pathway into deeper clinical training — including advanced modules and certification — should you choose to continue your development in this rewarding area of practice.
